Episode 12 is online! What a weekend! For me it started one day behind, on Saturday. James Ehrman and myself played Club 415 in Omaha and then afterhours. We rolled up V.I.P. to Omaha and got there around 8pm. Meeting up with some friends we drank on some wine and ate home-made flatbread appetizers. A little after 9 I noticed my crew and I were running a little behind, so we jet down to Club 415 and meet up with Ehrman. Ehrman already has the place bumping, so I plug in my flash drive and start mixxing it up with him.
We’re doing 3s. Around here, it’s almost a standard in DJ mixing.
“What we doing tonight?” I ask Ehrman.
“I thought we could just do threes.”
“Right on.”
‘Threes’, as the name implies: is just mixing back and forth with another DJ, and switching after every 3rd mix. So we did our threes all night, just keeping the vibe fresh. Ehrman represents breakbeat to the fullest: dropping some sick new 2010 breakbeat remixes. I brought my fidget crate, which contrasted pretty will to Ehrman’s breakbeats. Womp womp womp goes the fidget house.
Big up to the Citizens for hosting Omaha afterhours last Saturday! Awesome awesome, I got to mix it up with both Nij & Jeff Pharaoh. It was kinda funny though, because I had only brought my own gig stick and we were playing on CDJ-400s. These great units let you plug a usb stick right in, but I only had the one! So the DJ KG let me borrow his thumb drive and I was mixing between the two. We mixed until 5am, and when we finally did leave the music was definitely still going behind us.
FUNDAY SUNDAY! Woo what a killer lineup for thedjlink! Cutterlad brought us back to the raving days, dropping a mix of hard trance/house. DJesse followed with some disco house. Spencelove dropped his wonky house sound he is so famous for. Mix’d Up surprised me by coming down with Myth and dropping dubstep as OudaReech. And big-up to The Citizens (Nij & Jeff Pharaoh) for closing out the night on some great house jams. We had the best online attendance ever! We now avg over 30 viewers at any one time, and had over 300 people stop by. The avg time spent on our website is well above 2 hours. Thanks so much for helping us grow!
