Going to switch gears on the ol’ remix monday. Not only featuring a round-up of local music in my world, but I’ll also be putting events on the calendar and giving you a heads up on where the party is at! Don’t hate, i’m going to have a strong bias on my own events, haha…but I’m kinda up to something every weekend ;]
This week I got a tune to share! I want to give it a bit more polish, but I’ve been testing it on dance floors over the weekend and having a blast on the turntables with it. Dubstep with that classic “drop”, back to the roots sound. Lemme know what you think on soundcloud!
Perfect time to shout-out my event this thursday at the Bourbon Theatre! Every month BASSthoven hosts a double room HUGE BASS party at the Bourbon Theatre. This month I’m bringing in my homies from over in Des Moines here to rock the main stage: Brad Goldman & Jesse Jamz! Also the all female front room returns with Sharkweek the debut performance by DJ Remixtress. Special support from the super group Drum & Disorderly (DJ Moeglie rocking all vinyl drum & bass, Andy Marker of Somasphere rocking the drums & MC ADB controlling the mic!). BASSthoven will also have a set!

Wrekafekt has been rocking the Sharkclub up in Omaha a almost a month now. This week he will be on the road so he asked me to come up and fill in. I’ll have my homies Bentone & Jesse Jamz with me, so all night we’ll be playing a NO COVER show for our Omaha homies who can’t make the big thursday show. Plus it’ll be a smaller more intimate bar time than the bourbon, so hey let’s do both nights! I am!

3 new tracks from Bad Speler. Hyper rap comes to mind when trying to describe this hyped glitched out assault. This bad ass is making a track a week, and just shared these 3 tunes today so grab em while they’re fresh. Also i’ll be teaming up with Bad Speler for a monthly we are starting in 2012 at Omaha’s House of Loom. The show will be a focus on NEW music and artist from our own state and surrounding areas. More experimental than any other dj dance music night, when you listen to Bad Speler and think of a night of his music combined with my own, you’ll get a feel for our show.
RYGOL dropping his debut ep the 1st of 2012: REMOTE CONTROL. Really stepping it up since the last time I blogged about him, the title track for this ep will stop you in your tracks. Sick original dubstep sounds, I can understand why Rygol didn’t wait to drop these tunes. 4 bangers for you to get up on!
So maybe this will encourage him to upload something new, but I gotta highlight my homie Tim Quirk, otherwise known as imTHATguy. We have taken to the studio a ton in the past few months and this guy has come up QUICK. Learning and producing within ableton in only a few months time, this is an artist you wanna keep your eye on. Especially check out his tune Thorium, my favorite so far.

Each Monday I try to do a remix. It started as a little motivational push amongst my DJ friends, but it’s a great way to start the week without putting too much on your plate. Get back into the studio swing with a remix, then work on some originals throughout the week. So instead of flooding Facebook with links and posts every monday, I thought i’d gather up all the links and post away here on my blog. I’ll feature my own remix of the day (I try to share even if it’s 1/2way done), and i’ll also post some links to some of my friends mixes or songs. A sort of weekend recap.
This week, I finished up a moombahton remix of a super cheesy 80s song. You’re sure to recognize the tune from Top Gun, it’s iconic. I’m going to put this one out there under Epoch to save any confusion of my music versus this remix, but I really enjoyed making this.
